The CRED, specialised in the clinical evaluation of diagnostic tests, was created in October 1994 via a university-industry partnership between the Clinical Research Centre of the CHUS (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke) and Bayer Canada Inc. within the auspices of a research program of the FRSQ (Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec).

The CRED has a multidisciplinary research team in clinical biochemistry, economics, statistics, epidemiology and information management. The research team has developed high standards in evaluation protocols and procedures for diagnostic tests. In order to increase clinical evaluation efficiency, our laboratory facilities include a complete and efficient storage system of human biological specimens.

The Autocontrol project integrates methodologies for the optimisation of test use and new technology introduction. Since the creation of the CRED, important collaborative ventures have been established with various clinical investigators of our University Hospital as well as with other institutions.
