October 1998

The CRED, along with the Informatics axis of the Cardiology Network (RSCV), organizes an annual colloquium based on a current issue in Informatics applied to clinical and biomedical research. The colloquium brings together many contributors from various disciplines: doctors, computer scientists, research specialists, managers, biostatisticians as well as health care and trade professionnals.

The goal of the first colloquium was to highlight the significance of informatics in clinical research. It was held on October 16, 1998 at the Faculté de médecine of the Sherbrooke University and had as a general topic Informatics as a support for clinical research: present status and future needs. March 2000

The second colloquium offered a different point of view, trying to illustrate the importance of Informatics in all innovation activities as well as in the health care sector. For the occasion, the Informatics axis of the Cardiology Network, managed by Dr Andrew Grant, joined the Biomedical Telematic Laboratory of the Respiratory Health Network, managed by Dr Éric Rousseau, to bring a multi-network perspective to the colloquium. This second edition, also held at the Faculté de médecine of the Sherbrooke University, had for theme Informatics, the oxygen in the heart of clinical research. The 3rd edition of the colloquium on informatics applied to clinical and biomedical research was held over two separate days distinct one from the other. The first day, an expert workshop entitled "Canadian Health Informatics Research Agenda", took place at the Clinical Research Center of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke on May 14, 2001. A paraphernalia of experts, from both Canada and the U.S.A., attended the event which aimed at determining an agenda for health informatics research. The second day, the colloquium on bio-informatics entitled "Bio-informatics: how does it relate to applied health informatics?" was held at the Centre Culturel of the Université de Sherbrooke on May 15 2001 and was part of Acfas's 69th Conference. A collaboration was also established with a parallel colloquium in order for participants (over one hundred attendees) to benefit as much as possible from all the expertise present in both events.
